I can’t resist a good sale

So, this whole Knit From Your Stash thing?  Well, I made until March 17th!

Knit Nouveau was having a sale Saturday in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and their flyer said they were clearing out Debbie Bliss and Rowan yarns.  I went, hoping against hope, to find a ball or two of DB Cotton DK to finish my Rambling Rose cardigan.  They didn’t have any Cotton DK, but I did find this:

The ball on the bottom is DB Cotton DK; the ball on the top is DB Cathay, a cotton/nylon/silk blend.  It’s finer than the Cotton DK and it has a bit of sheen to it, but the colors are SOOOO close that I think using this for the neck and button bands will work.  Design element, right?  But still keeping the color uniform.  Now I need to get knitting and get it finished!

I also found these needles marked waaaayyy down:

I have no projects in mind for these, other than the size 13s which I now think won’t work afterall.  They were sizes I didn’t have in circulars and such a huge deal I couldn’t pass them up.

I about drooled when I found these for TWO DOLLARS each!

Rowan Summer Tweed – 9 skeins, which is enough to make this:

Chamomile from Rowan Summer Tweed’s book, but unfortunately – I didn’t buy any pattern books!  My initial thought was to make Cactus Flower from Knitty, but the reality of Alabama weather set in and I think Chamomile is much more suited to our heat index.  I’ll have to go back and see if they have any pattern books left.

That’s all I got.  I looked at other stuff, but these are the things I really wanted and I was content to buy yarn to finish a project, enough yarn to make another project, and stock up on needles.  I did cash in a full Knit Addict card and got $20 off my purchase, so total out of pocket was less than $25!  Can’t beat that! (with a stick, as they say down South)!

And look what I found in my dresser drawer yesterday.  It made me so happy, I thought I’d share it.

Cute note from your kiddo! I knit Chamomile and think it just might be my favorite sweater!

Congrats on the yarn and needles score. And that is the sweetest note!

The note brought tears to my eyes. I still occasionally come across one of those in forgotten spaces…my baby is 21 now, and lives in Japan.

Hold them close as long as possible…they fly away so soon.

Just wanted to drop in to say that the yarn you’ve spun (? that doesn’t sound right) is making me drool. Great job!!!

Totally a design element. It’ll be great.

What a sweet note! Congrats on finding that yarn. I think using it for the neck and button band is great!

That is some lovely new yarn you’ve got there! I’m doing pretty well with my Knit from the Stash pledge, but it’s been trying with all the new spring yarns/patterns/books coming out!
