There’s nothing wrong with a little retail therapy

I’m a big believer in retail therapy.  As long as you don’t go overboard and spend hundreds of dollars during your lunch hour, I think it’s perfectly fine to buy yourself a little something now and then.  It’s especially gratifying if you’re supporting an independent craftster.  So, last week, that’s exactly what I did.

Following Leah‘s recommendation (go drool over her Malabrigo shrug!), I checked out Green Leaf and Owl, an Etsy shop.  I love everything she makes, but this is what I ordered:

A little handmade pendant with trees at sunset, which reminds me of the many sunsets we’ve enjoyed while backpacking.  And look how cute her packaging is!  Nevermind the fact that I never wear necklaces…I’ll make an exception in this case.

I’ve been a big fan of The Yarn Wench’s handdyed roving for some time, but always seemed to miss her site updates.  Last week I got lucky!  This is Egghunt-2.

Isn’t it beautiful?  LOVE the purple!  All her colorways are inspiring and while I love to dye my own roving, sometimes it’s nice to just pull something out of the stash – ready to spin.

Speaking of spinning, I finished the second bobbin of the blue/peach roving and made a two-ply.

Approx. 325 yards, wool/mohair blend, sock weight.  I think turquoise is my favorite Lanaset dye, a definite staple.  Last night I decided to knit my Wee Tiny Sock for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap from this new yarn, and here’s how it came out:

Too freaking cute!  I told SB I was going to knit wee tiny socks out of all the sock yarn I spin, so I can see how it knits up and then I can string them together and make a Christmas tree garland!  I think he doubts my sanity.  That’s okay, I know YOU GUYS understand!

TOO CUTE! *scream* And I think that would be a beautiful decoration. I’m tempted to lemming the idea and do it myself.

I was about to make a baby blanket for someone, but you know… maybe the baby needs little bitty socks.

I LOVE the sock yarn you spun up. The colors are perfect for spring. And the wee tiny sock? So cute! I think that knitting a tiny sock to swatch with your handspun is a great idea. I guess it is only a thing that knitters would understand.

Ohhhh! Retail therapy is good for the soul. Thanks for the links. Ahhh! Gorgeous turquoise dyes! EEEE! Tiny wee socks! I think the garland idea is marvalous, absolutely marvolous. Next time SB doesn’t understand sock garlands, just tell him to be glad it’s not weird tiny sock earrings. That’s what I do when the Hubby gives my knitting fetish weird looks. “It could be a lot worse…” and point to someone else’s blog.
