Starting off my Monday with a 16 oz. Diet Rockstar energy drink

That’s my excuse if this post is rambling.

I’m in a green phase, apparently. Exhibit A: Green is a dominant color?  Exhibit B:  Rambling Rose cardigan:

Granted, I didn’t go to the store and purchase green yarn to knit this sweater, I shopped from the stash.  But it is green.  Sea foam, I think.  I’ve completed the scallop edging and done three repeats of the lace pattern.  It is exactly 21 1/2 inches wide, so I’m on track with the pattern measurements.  I’m torn on whether or not to continue.  I love the sweater, I think it’ll be really pretty, but there’s a part of me that’s reluctant to knit a 43″ sweater.  I almost feel like doing so is tantamont to accepting defeat – acknowledging the fact that I’m the size I am and giving up on ever getting back into my “skinny” clothes.  I told my sister I was thinking this and she reminded me that skinny girls wear oversize sweaters all the time, so maybe that’s what I should focus on.  Anyone else have this dilemma?  You want to knit actual clothing, but not in a size that you can wear it now because, you know, you’re going to drop those ten, twenty, thirty pounds and then it won’t fit and all your hard work is for naught?  Then again, it seems pretty ridiculous to knit something two sizes too small.  (Edited to add:  Now – I am not saying that everyone should be a size four and weigh 102 pounds.  I know our society is obsessed with being skinny and it’s the cause of models dropping dead and the poor self-esteem of teenage girls everywhere and I’m not belitting that at all.  Or trying to contribute to it, either.  I am short (5’4″ and that might be stretching it) and my current weight just doesn’t look good on me.  My thoughts above are more a reflection of how I feel about myself and the dilemma of knitting a sweater in one size when I have every intention, hope and aspiration of being a smaller size, hopefully by the time the sweater is finished.  I hope I don’t offend anyone and if I do, inadvertently, it’s the Rockstar.)

Anyway.  Back to the green theme.  I did some dyeing over the weekend.

Not 100% sure, but I think this is mohair.  It was a thank you from Carol of Sheep Shed Studios.

I was trying to clear out some squirt bottles here and this ended up my favorite!  It’s bunchy because the mills ends in this order were all bits and pieces.  I guess that’s why they’re “ends.” They spin great but don’t photograph well.

P.S.  Hey – are my pictures too big?  I myself like big pictures, but do you find it annoying?

Pictures can not be too big. They look great as do the subjects.

I think your pictures are just right. And your roving is so pretty!

Oh, and good news for me! B told me this weekend that I can use his kitchen to dye roving/yarn since my kitchen is too small. Wheeee!!!!!

Knit it for your current size, and rejoice in the fact that you have a beautiful handmade garment that fits you well. Then later if/when you successfully lose that weight, either wear it oversized, or keep it as a reminder of your successes, both knitting and dietary.
Or ignore me completely and do whatever you wanna. :-)

Your pictures are comfortable and your sister is smart. I look at stuff to knit and think “hmm, I’ll have to make that for my “little” sister as she is small enough for it to look cute on” – how disgusting is that? I know where you are coming from – but know that your skills are awesome and you should be sporting that knitted beauty on your own beautiful bod.

2 sizes too small? Could be quite sexy. Me? I actually end up with ginormous sweatersbecasue I am convinced I am bigger than I am.

Love the progress, but love love love the roving. I use the squirt bottle method on most of my stuff.

I am going to be in Bham this weekend. Want to meet up and knit in public? (I also propsitioned Grace)

No, I think the pictures are good big. I hate squinting to see what’s in the picture. Can’t wait for the yarn! I’ve been practicing heels on some super yucky acrylic yarn just for fun. Any pattern suggestions for socks?

The picture size is great — even bigger would be okay with me.

Your body size may not please you, but does said body get up every morning, walk you through the day, please you occasionally in some way? If so, knit it a sweater in its current size. It will be grateful.
