What to do, what to do…

I started a new project with my first wheelspun yarn.
It’s a pinwheel cushion out of Barbara Walker’s Fourth Treasury of Knitting Patterns. But I have a dilemma. When I spun this, I plied light roving with dark and it created a pretty balanced yarn overall. Except for the very end, when I ran out of lighter roving and plied dark with dark. I knew this when I started knitting the cushion but considered it a “design element.” Now I’m not so sure. Should I (a) continue on, switching to the new yarn in the foreground (identical to the first two sections on the right) when the current dark yarn runs out; or (b) rip back to where the dark section begins and continue on with the new yarn? I can’t decide. It’s just a pillow, right? But then again…
I’ve been doing some spinning too.
This is part of my order from Hello Yarn. Aren’t the colors gorgeous? How DOES Adrian do it??? Inspiring, to say the least. (please ignore the glaring navajo-plying errors, I’m still learning).
I spun and navajo-plied Wet Cheetos this week, finished last night.
Et voila! This is my creme de la creme, my coup d’etat, my piece de la resistance -445 yards of Falkland (?) (I have to start writing this stuff down) dyed and spun by moi, 18 wpi which means it falls into the laceweight category according to icanspin, so hooray, I’ve spun laceweight! I love, love, love it. It is soooo soft and light and airy, just what you want in a laceweight yarn. Yippee!
Don’t you just want to squish it?
In Money Pit News, which I wasn’t going to mention but after the email I just got from Sgt. Britty, I HAVE to share this – while I was home for lunch our roofer was there because the roof started leaking this morning during the massive downpour. Are you ready for this? The roof leak was caused by a BULLET HOLE. WTF??? I think I may have mentioned our ghettto-adjacent neighborhood before, but apparently the hoods like to shoot guns on certain holidays, such as New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July. We heard gunfire NYE and I optimistically wrote it off as fireworks. Apparently not. Fuck.
Don’t forget to tell me what you’d do with the cushion. I need the distraction.

Are you starting on the 4th section? If I were you, just rip back and start the fourth section with the lighter yarn as you have already finished 3 sections (at least, that’s what it looks like to me.)
Your yarn looks fabulous.

Bullet holes. Nice.
I kinda like the dark section too, and would consider it part of the design. But if you’re that iffy on it, you could always knit from both balls, to keep it from getting too dark. That might make it stripey though, I don’t know.

I say leave it. I like it and since it’s your first wheelspun it will be special. :)
Your other yarn looks great too.

Do you want to know what I’d do, or do you want to know what you *should* do?;-> I think I’d continue til this section finished in darker yarn and knit part of the next section with the next ball about halfway and eyeball it. If you can live with it, keep it that way, if not, rip back and redo both sections with next ball. I think it’s beautiful, dark section and all.

I like the darker section – I think you should keep it. Beautiful handspun – very nice!

I say finish it like it is and when you don’t like it, send it to me. Please tell me the bullet hole was not over your bedroom.

I’m agreeing with the previous comments – keep the dark section – Hey, it’s Handspun, it’s not supposed to be “perfect” and it is a design element. Totally planned that way, and don’t you let anyone tell you any different ;-)
Love love love the laceweight – Whoot, and great job! Your spinning is beautiful. Can’t wait to see more projects made out of it.

MMMM – pear sammiches – I’m gonna have to try that. And I see nothing clumsy in that navajo plying – we’re always our own worst critics. Love your dyeing, spinning! Oh yeah – I dig the dark section, it’s your handspun – you can’t go wrong either way you choose, and you’re right – it’s a pillow!
