Why settle for less than 36 hours?

From here on out, I’m going to get my post titles from spam.

I hope everyone’s Christmas was terrific.  I, personally, am very thankful and happy with everything I received (so many crafty gifts, I can’t even begin to go into it) (I also don’t know what to work with first because I want to do it ALL.RIGHT.NOW.) and for the time spent with family and friends but honestly…I’m SO glad it’s over.  I need about a week of laying around and watching judge shows to regain my pre-holiday strength and initiative.

I know you guys want to know WHAT crafty gifts I received, try not to hate me too much:

Two sets of Knit Picks size 1 circulars (yes, I’m going to the dark side and learning to knit socks on two circs.  A woman in my fiber guild is going to teach a class soon - and now I’m set!)

Two extra bobbins, plus the large plyer bobbin and flyer for my Rose (my daughter had NO idea what she was giving me, just that it was on my wish list!)

Every single book in the Barbara Walker Knitting Treasuries series. (hooray, but what will I ask for in future years??? Also, now I want to stay home and swatch all day!)

My favorite non-crafty gift?  Amy Sedaris’ new book, I Like You, Hospitality Under the Influence.  Ohmygod.  I am not even 50 pages into this book and I’ve been giggling and whooping non-stop!  I absolutely love Amy Sedaris.  I must invite her to a dinner party.  Har!

Sgt. Britty and I gifted each other with the SAME present – Tom Waits “Orphans.”  I wonder if this is indicative of years to come – buying the same “surprise” present for each other?

I also gifted some crafty items, but alas – no photos!  I will take some soon so I can boost my FO count for 2006. Speaking of year endings, new beginnings, etc., I have a few “Want To” items for 2007 on my list, which I’m writing here in an effort to keep my brain focused on the task(s) at hand and not be distracted by bright, shiny objects.

1.  I want to create a personalized banner for trailingyarn.

2.  I want to finish my UFOs or frog them. If the love is gone, it ain’t likely coming back.

3.  I want to complete an actual knitted garment.  (The 3/4 done sweater hanging my closet doesn’t count.  It should count, but I’m not lovin’ it any more, and what would be more fun than casting on for a NEW! sweater?!?)  I want to make the Wanderlust Hoodie, I have the needles, the yarn, the pattern, and I will FIND the time.  I’m going to follow Fathom Harvill’s lead and skip the bobbles entirely.  It will be fast because of the bulky yarn and also interesting because of the stitch pattern.  I think I can do it (without getting bored).  I really do.

4.  I’m itching to do some lace knitting again.  Nothing as elaborate as this, but perhaps a small Evelyn Clark project in steel Jaggerspun Zephyr, which I already have in my stash.

5.  I want to play around with dyes more and spend quality time with my wheel.

That’s all I can think of, craft-related, for now.  I think it’s enough to keep me busy but not overwhelmingly so.  Stress-free knitting and spinning – that’s my goal for 2007.

You will LOVE making socks on 2 circulars. I will be stopping by now and then to see how you are progressing. Wait until you see how quickly they are going to move along.

I just got the Amy Sedaris book too. Isn’t it fascinating?! I think my new personal goal is to be able to make a book that hilarious and weird!
