Thanks!

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely day, topped off with a fabulous dinner (squash and hazelnut orzo) cooked by SB, and cherry delight (also made by SB), and lots of nice presents!
A very cool gift that I received was Deb Menz’s Color in Spinning. I’ve only had time to browse the pictures, but I can already tell that I am going to learn SO MUCH from this book. I’m also going to need more fiber to dye. Good thing another gift-giving season is close at hand! How do you tell someone you want fluffy white stuff for Christmas? Without them thinking you’re insane?
I finally wove in the ends of this scarf so I could wear it the other day:
It’s made from one skein of Lorna Lace’s Bullfrogs and Butterflies, using the Daisy stitch pattern:
Multiples of four stitches 1 (I cast on 29 stitches)
Rows 1 and 3: Knit
Row 2: K1 *purl three together, don’t drop them off the needle, YO, purl same three together again and drop them, K1, repeat from *
Row 4: K1, P1, K1 *purl three together, don’t drop them off the needle, YO, purl same three together again and drop them, K1, repeat from * ending with a P1, K1
This pattern lies flat and is easy to memorize, but I had to use my mother’s old aluminum needles because all those purl three togethers requires a very sharp tip! Aluminum needles are hard on my hands and so I would work on this for a little bit and then put it away. The scarf is pretty narrow, but long enough (I like a long scarf) and I’m happy with the way it turned out and also! Only one skein! Gotta love that!
I’m working on a pair of the most adorable mittens but they won’t look like anything until they’re finished so you guys will just.have.to.wait. Patience is a virtue. Or some crap like that. I hope to finish one tonight while we continue our LOST marathon (we’re at the beginning of Season Two). What will happen to Walt? Will he escape from The Others? Will Sawyer and Kate ever do it? What is John Locke’s real name and is he evil incarnate or their savior? Ah, only time will tell (and you’d better not!)! Please!
