Ta-da!

I finally finished my Blueberry Waffle Socks! Yes, I know, only four months after I started them. What can I say, I”m easily distracted. Check out how much yarn I had left over.

Wait a minute. What’s this??? Another FO?

Just LOOK at those cards! Sgt. Britty and I played Canasta last night for the first time in a loooonnnggg time. I kicked his butt, too. Hee! It had nothing to do with my Fetching gloves; it was pure talent, baby, pure talent! I used stash yarn – RYC Cashsoft Aran, one skein of foxglove, and went down a needle size because I had size 5 dpns, but not size 6. I’m all about not spending money right now, gotta save my cash for SAFF, ya know. These mitts reside in my purse, ready at a moment’s notice to combat the Evil Office Air Conditioning.

Besides the butt kicking and object finishing, there’s been some dyeing going on, too. On top is what I dyed Wednesday night, and the bottom is what I dyed last night. I came pretty close in getting the same colors, although last night’s is more purple. Tonight I’m going to spread the roving out on the dining room table and figure out what order to spin it in, in a likely ill-fated attempt at uniformity. I’m also going to try really hard to spin this finer than I have been so that I can ply it. I’ve spun all the pale blue roving I dyed last week, but can’t decide what to ply it with. I’ve done little samples of it plied on itself (kinda bleh) and with some brown roving that Carol Lee threw in with my mills ends order (thanks Carol Lee!) and the blue/brown is pretty in a retro sense, but I’m still not SURE. It’s funny – I ask Sgt. Britty what he thinks about a color combo and he always responds: “For what?” Meaning, what am I going to knit with it? Ha! I have NO IDEA!!! If it’s really pretty, I may not knit with it at all. I may just gaze at it and admire it and maybe sneak in a pet every once in awhile.
