10 knitterly things previously unknown

And my first meme….

1.  My knitting technique is probably completely wrong, but it works for me.

2.  I used to have glorious aspirations of knitting fabulous gifts for everyone I know, but I’ve come to the conclusion that if I can finish the projects I have on the needles, and maybe knit one gift this year, I’ll be satisfied.  Yes, I will.  Shut up.

3.  The more I knit, the more my preference for small needles and lightweight yarn grows.

4.  Sometimes I pick up needles, any needles, and soft, fluffy yarn and just knit for the tactile pleasure – no FO in mind.

5.  I’ve begun deconstructing commercially-made garments in my mind.  Yesterday a co-worker wore a lace sweater-jacket that I’m sure I can duplicate.

6.  I have a falsely inflated opinion of my capabilities as a knitter.  See above.

7.  I love to buy yarn on sale but find that it sits in the stash the longest.

8.  I’m not a very good teacher.  Several co-workers have expressed an interest in learning to knit, but I have so little time available that I don’t want to spend it teaching!  Not to mention that I’m not qualified.  I’d rather be working on my own projects.

9.  Most of my finished objects are test knits.

10.  Here’s a picture of what happens when I knit under the influence:

See the loop on the bottom left?  Yeah, that’s not supposed to be there.  The working yarn is on the bottom right.  We’re not even going to talk about the nip forming in the middle.  It felted and blocked out flat.  It’s all good!

Of course you know that if your knitting technique is working for you, then it’s not wrong! :) Happy knitting, and thanks for answering!
