For your dining pleasure this evening…

We have an assortment of luscious yarns.
Our appetizer on the left is “Innocence Contest,” approx. 80 yards, dyed by the talented Adrian and our chef’s first experiment in spinning. The spindle soup d’jour is ”Midnight Hour,” a fitting name as our chef was awake past midnight getting the spindle as full as she possibly could (yardage unknown). 32 yards of “Mountain Sunrise,” comprise our main course – lovely pastels with just a hint of blue. For dessert we are serving the fabulous ”Cherry Flambé ” – a satiny-smooth Corriedale that keeps its bright hue secret until you least expect it (good lord – WHAT was I thinking??? I believe Mercedes might need to add more lighting to the new shop so her customers can avoid these eeek! moments in the future.).
Midnight Hour and Mountain Sunrise came from Crown Mountain Farms and I want to rave and rave about the service. I placed the order Friday, it shipped the same day and was delivered to my office on Monday – from Washington! Awesome! I love Teyani’s colorways, the prices are great, and the pencil Corriedale roving is SO easy to spin, especially for a novice like me!
Here’s what it looks like unspun:
I really love it. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but I love it!
This weekend I plan to experiment with kool-aid dyeing. I bought 8 oz. of undyed superwash I’m going to dye coordinating/contrasting colors to Cherry Flambé for plying purposes to try and tone that sucker down. I’m thinking oranges and blues – anyone have any other suggestions? I may try to ply it with Midnight Hour, but that’s spinning up thicker than I’d like (I know it’s crazy but I was hoping to spin it at a sockweight. If she can do it, why can’t I?) and plying would just make it thicker.
Oooohhh, I just learned that a girl here at work is into knitting! I’m going to go pester talk to her!

Oh. La. LA. That looks like a big bowl of candy. Luscious, indeed! (I wouldn’t even be able to bring myself to use that yarn. I’d just leave it out for decoration. Hee!)

Im with Becky — too gorgeous. It would have to be a hat or something — I think some headbands or something that you wear on your head. Like I said — I want it to be my hair.
