Stashy stashy stash stash!

My LYS, Knit Nouveau, is moving (closer to me, hallelujah!) and their inventory reduction sale started yesterday morning at 10:00.  I took my “lunch” at 10:30 and man, did I ever score!  I was worried that only novelty yarn would be reduced, and there was plenty of that to be sure, but there was also this:

Yes, that’s TWO bags!  Want to see what’s inside?

Nine skeins of Karabella Aurora Bulky!  I think I’ll be able to knit the Cable Eight tank from IK’s Summer 2005 issue.  It’s not the specified yarn, but the patterns says to double the specified yarn, and a single strand of Aurora Bulky, if the label is to be believed, will give the correct gauge.  I think this will be a great project to learn cabling.

I also got 11 skeins of KAB in this fab blue.  I have one skein in my stash already, so with 12 skeins, I’m hoping to make a sweater.  There’s a lovely pattern for a cabled hoodie in the Fall IK, but I’d probably have to buy more yarn.  The horror!

But – that is not all -

L to R – 10 skeins Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in melon-red, six skeins Regia bumblebee striped sock yarn, two skeins Regia patterning sock yarn, and on top, a wound ball of Cascade 220 and another skein of wine KAB (to match the one I have in my stash).  Now I’m going in for the kill – are you ready?

I PAID $1.00 PER SKEIN FOR ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Can you freaking believe it????  I couldn’t.  I also bought a Lantern Moon tote bag for 50% off and a Knitter’s Companion for $5.00.  Woo hoo!

I must have used up all my luck at the yarn shop, because when Sgt. Britty and I played Canasta last night, the score card looked like this:

Yeah, that’s right.  I had five measly points.  Sgt. Britty had 5,095.  I normally would have insisted on a rematch, right then right there, but I wanted to look at pattern books to figure out what to do with my new YAAAARRRRNNNNNN!

P.S.  In response to my last post, Grace said she hoped I would have a better day.  I wasn’t having a bad day, I just like the Cobair Report and thought creating an On Notice Board was funny.  I typically don’t bitch about stuff here, but I reserve that right should I choose to exercise it.

No wonder there was nothing worth buying by the time I got there last night. Harumph.

I’m SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous of your stash!!! I talked myself out of being there an hour before they opened….I mean WHEN they opened….I figured it wouldn’t be any of the “good” stuff on sale…..guess that’s what I get for thinking….note to self….NEVER think….JUST ACT!! Well….maybe that just needs to apply to knitting and not life in general!! LOL!!

Lucky you! I made the Cable 8 (go on-line for the errata, if you don’t already have it) and love wearing it. I receive many compliments. There’s nothing to cabling, and this is an excellent pattern. BTW, I subbed a yarn, single-strand, linen-cotton, only it was a slightly smaller gauge. In the end, everything worked out fine, but I had a few nightmares from working out all the specs. You, my dear, should be fine! Happy Knitting!

What a great deal! I would have fallen over at those prices! Unfortunately, I only have one LYS and that would never happen!
