A present!

I got a present! How fabulous is that? I told Kat with Southwest Trading Company about our roof troubles, and she sent me this:
Three skeins of Amaizing yarn – their new yarn made out of corn! Or, CAAARRRN, as they say in Indiana. That was SO sweet of her! I’m also working on a test knit for them, but I don’t know if it’s bloggable so I have to keep hush about it for now. I will say that it’s my first attempt at knitting lace (thankfully it’s not a huge project) and I have already had to completely start over. And I’m running a lifeline after each pattern repeat. BTW – how do you get the lifeline in? I’ve used waste yarn and a needle and more recently, dental floss and a floss threader, but I’m really having a hard time threading it through the stitches that are on the needle. Am I doing it wrong?
In ongoing Canasta Tournament news, Sgt. Britty lost the first game last night (yay me!), but snatched victory from me in the second game. Yes, I was behind over 4,000 points, but I had a plan, people, a plan! And I was thwarted. No fun. Mack helped us play.
This is what our house looked like this morning. Yes, I took this picture from inside my car across the street. I should have just asked the roofers to pose so I could take a picture, I’m sure they thought I was crazier to try and take it on the sly. Because they totally knew what I was doing.
They say they’re going to have it finished today. Sgt. Britty thinks that’s impossible, but I hope the roofers are right because we’re leaving in the morning to see Tom Waits in Memphis!!! And yes, I have directions to TWO yarn shops – just in case we have time to stop in.

Canasta…now that brings back memories. My best friend and I used to play almost everynight…..sitting on the floor of her apartment in our P.J.’s. with her dog playing canasta till the wee hours of the morning smoking way too many cigarettes, eating junk food and now I’m sad to say I can’t even remember how to play Canasta!! Ahh….those were the good old days….cigarettes and junk food…not a care in the world that we were clogging our arteries and killing our lungs!! Youth is wasted on the young I say!! LOL!!
