Work is a four letter word

We got new photo IDs at work today.  Here’s mine:

 

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it.  Picture IDs make me feel more anonymous, not less.  I agree with one of our partners, who said:  Nothing says “you are a nobody” like your own personal photo ID badge.  Nothing says “we have no idea who you are ” like a photo ID badge. Nothing says “we don’t care what you think” like forcing everyone to wear a photo ID badge.  And if we don’t have to wear them, then there is no purpose to them that is not already served by the access devices we already have and our own drivers’ licenses.  

And all this because of a stolen head of cabbage.  *sigh*

On another note, I’ve added some links to my favorite hiking websites on the sidebar.  Summertime is not optimum hiking weather in Alabama, and thus the scarcity of hiking-related posts.  However, that will all change along with the seasons (unless global warming keeps us in the throes of summer forever) and I’ll have lots of fabuloso pics and trip reports that make you say, “they’re CRAZY!”  I’m itching to get out there (so much so that a couple of weeks ago, I was up at 6:45, nudging Sgt. Britty and saying, “let’s go hike at Oak Moutain!”  He wanted to know who I was and what I did with his wife.  But we went, hiked almost 7 miles, and felt MUCH better for it.  I hope we can do the same thing this Saturday. 

Knitting has been more of a comfort thing for me lately.  I pull out some yarn (gave up on the Lorna’s Laces after the third stitch pattern looked horrid and switched to playing with novelty yarn purchased in a buying frenzy during a clearance sale for embellishment purposes only)(yeah right.  I’m a floozy.  I’m going to make a Rockstar Scarf) and I just knit.  No rhyme, no reason, just mindless, comforting, knitting.  That will change as soon as I figure out what my next project will be.  Will it be this, this or this? or something totally different?
