Halfway to a pedi

When I was thin, I lived on adrenaline, nicotine and caffeine.  Oh yes, and chocolate.  I was also newly, madly in love with my DH, and you know how that is.  You wake up with boundless energy, excited because you get to see him tonight, you’re too busy running errands (buying ingredients for the dinner you’re making) to eat a proper lunch, so you smoke four cigarettes and grab a pack of crackers instead, you cook a fabulous dinner that you barely nibble because you’re too busy talking and laughing and flirting, the majority of your dinner calories coming from Pinot Noir, but even the alcohol calories don’t matter because you stay up until 2:00 a.m. listening to music and talking and getting to know him better.  Your time together is so precious that sleep is wasteful.  It’s no wonder I was able to eat ice cream for breakfast and not gain weight!

When I decided that I was sick and tired of being fat, sick and tired, I started working out.  Last Wednesday was the day I hit the gym at lunch, and the scale reading was a shocker.  I only managed to workout twice last week, but I have cut way back on unhealthy snacks and also, alcohol consumption.  Today I went to the gym (and discovered that the incline bicycle is perfect for exercising while sock knitting!) and got on the scale again – I’ve lost 2.5 pounds!  Yes, that’s incentive enough to keep on (I’m not saying how many pounds I have left to lose - maybe when it’s all over), but I think that losing 5 pounds deserves a pedicure, it being summer and all.

What does losing 10 pounds warrant?  A facial?  A massage?  A trip to the LYS?
